Q: What exactly is the difference between foundry cast and bonded bronze?
A: A foundry cast bronze is the traditional way that fine art bronzes are cast.
The process involves casting the sculpture first in wax, which is then melted
and vaporized inside of it's mold and replaced with molten bronze. These are
also sometimes called "lost wax bronzes"
A bonded bronze is a casting made from bronze in a very fine powdered state
suspended in a resin medium. The core of the piece is then filled with a resin
formulated for strength.
Both types of castings are patinaed and polished and finished by hand.
